Alienware needs no introduction; the pioneering high-performance gaming PCs maker recently hosted the ‘Alienware LAN Championship’ tournament with our local gaming organization — Genysis Cyber E-sport (GCE) — from March 22nd to March 23rd 2014. GCE is a local organization of gaming enthusiasts as well as professional administrators supporting the e-sports community in Malaysia that is fast-growing right now.
The inaugural offline tournament is also co-funded by Intel and took place last week at Gaming@Brightstar in Low Yat Plaza. The event saw 160 professional Malaysian gamers brought together to battle it out in teams of five, on two popular games named Mission Against Terror and Dota 2.
This means that there were a total of 32 teams that took part in this competition to eliminate the opposing team in the first-person shooter and multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games. All of them were using Alienware X51 gaming desktops.
Two teams that came out triumphant from this tournament are Team EDP RoG and Team NaraStack. EDP RoG took the top spot for Mission Against Terror, while NaraStack owned the rest in Dota 2. Both winning teams got a RM2,000 cash voucher each, plus the Alienware Tactx Headset and Mouse.
Runners-up were being compensated too. Both Team SoD and Team Genysis who are in 1st Runner-Up were awarded prizes plus a RM1,000 cash voucher. The 2nd Runner-Up spots were won by PAHLAWAN’ Team A and Team ExTacy Gaming who each received prizes and a RM500 cash voucher.
Besides the tournament, gamers also had the opportunity to play a racing game with an insane three-monitor setup. There were also auctions and lucky draws at the event with prizes worth up to RM12,000.
